Sudama travelled to see Krishna with a small bundle of flattened rice. He worried that his humble gift was unworthy of a king. Krishna welcomed his friend with affection, receiving the offering not for its value, but for the love with which it was brought.
The story is retold in the Bhagavata Purana and cherished as a reflection on friendship, hospitality, and the generosity of the heart.
